CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

This year’s capital improvements focused on Habilitat’s bathrooms. Thanks to a generous grant from the Michael A Kahn Family Foundation, as of September 2018 we have successfully completed the renovation of our Re-entry, female bathroom and staff bathrooms and are currently hard at work renovating the treatment bath house.

Next on the list are the female bath house and recreation room. Through the contributions made by all of our supporters we are able to upgrade our facility and provide the best possible living conditions for our residents.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Throughout the year, Habilitat residents get to enjoy going out into the community as volunteers and helping with many different projects. The next few pages will show the different ways our residents have been able to give back to the community by volunteering their time.

This year we were proud to adopt a park and a highway and lend aide to Waikalua Loko I’a fishpond, Taste of Oahu, reforesting Hawai’i island, Hawaii Meals on Wheels, feeding houseless veterans and more.

EDUCATION

This calendar year we have had 5 individuals earn their High School Diploma with many more to come. We currently have 8 students in line to receive their diploma in the months to come. In addition to our G.E.D. classes we offer basic skills courses to individuals who have completed High School but need to brush up on their basics. Recently we have started computer classes on the weekends providing a forum for residents to partake in basic computer classes and move on to the intermediate class.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

A strong focal point of the organization for this year has been to improve upon the experience for the residents. Our staff has been evaluating and revamping the curriculum especially in the areas of vocational training. We have been seeking outside help from experts in their field to help train and educate both our staff and residents. Our residents have been attending workshops and seminars to become more proficient in their vocational field.
